Blur #5 displays moving imagery of the Women’s March on DC in 2017. An RGB LED panel is mounted behind a solid piece of cast resin that contains raw pigment particles to capture the light from the LEDs. The image on the LED panel is two-dimensional, but projecting the lights through the resin creates an image with a three-dimensional volume allowing the image to be viewed from the side. This process makes visible the last part of the digital to analog conversion process showing the beams of light as they coalesce. The pink color of the hats aids the viewers in deciphering what they are looking at.
