Frames Of Reference

This work consists of a small circuit board camera attached to one end of a piece of wood. On the other end is a partially hammered nail. This “system” is suspended from above and connected to a motor which jerks the piece of wood every half hour or so to keep it in motion. The image from the camera aimed at the nail is projected onto the wall near the camera such that as the board slowly rotates, panning the room and keeping the nail centered within the image. The image itself is processed through a time averaging filter, so that as the board rotates, the room and people in the background are blurred while the nail and board are very precise exaggerating the differences between two frames of reference.
