Involuntary Time

This work as in Untitled (for the sun) uses a light sensor to phase the work to the rhythms of the sun. These rhythms are then displayed as a video image of a woman getting up from a chair to answer the telephone. The seemingly static image of the woman is projected onto a black rectangle that has chalk outlines that define the endpoints of where she will eventually end up at sunrise and at sunset. It takes her all day to move from the chair to the phone—her left right position describing the position of the sun—and it takes her all night for her to return to the chair and sit down again.
